The Ministers in the Department of Health have “very much” welcomed An Bord Pleanála’s decision last week (June 3) to grant planning permission for the construction of a new forensic hospital at Portrane, Co Dublin, which will replace the existing Central Mental Hospital (CMH).

Minister of State Kathleen Lynch has welcomed the lodging of a Strategic Infrastructure Development (SID) planning application to An Bord Pleanála, which marks the first major step in replacing the Central Mental Hospital (CMH) in Dundrum with a modern facility in Portrane, North Dublin.
