St James’s to procure recombinant factors

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) expects the responsibility for the procurement of the national stock of clotting-factor concentrate products and other biologic medicinal products to transfer to St James’s Hospital within three days’ time. A spokesperson for the Service said a Bill to facilitate the transfer to the National Centre for Hereditary Coagulation Disorders and the National Haemophilia Centre — both at St James’s Hospital — had passed all stages in the Houses of the Oireachtas. “It is expected that this activity will transfer to St James’s Hospital on [Monday] April 30, 2012,” the spokesperson told…
