SDU and the HSE are at ‘cross-purposes’

The Special Delivery Unit (SDU) in the Department of Health and HSE Corporate are working at “cross-purposes”, leaving public hospitals countrywide “caught in the middle”, doctors have argued. Consultant members of the IMO unanimously passed a motion, following debate, at the recent AGM in Killarney calling on the Minister for Health and the HSE to cease presenting competing targets to hospitals, such as demands for reduced expenditure and containment of activity, while insisting on reducing waiting lists.
