Restored cards are ‘impacting on performance’ — HSE

The decision to suspend the review of medical cards and restore cards issued on a discretionary basis “has  impacted on normal operational performance”, the Primary Care Reimbursement Service (PCRS) has said. The HSE’s Primary Care Division (PCD) had an overall deficit of €30.1 million in the year to May. The scale of the PCRS savings target for 2014 of €249 million was thus a very significant challenge given that it followed the €353 million targeted for 2013.
