Renal Transplantation Programme expansion

By Lloyd Mudiwa. The National Renal Transplant Programme at Beaumont Hospital is expanding on a phased basis to provide up to 250 kidney transplants each year, IMT reports. There are currently 600 people on the waiting list and the target is for 180 renal transplants by the end of this year. As part of phase one, Beaumont Hospital, which is a designated cancer centre, is currently involved in a recruitment campaign for “exceptional and committed” professionals to join the National Renal Transplant Team in delivering a greater number of transplants each year to patients on renal replacement therapy.
