‘Red eye service’ could support discharges

By Lloyd Mudiwa. A leading geriatrician believes that suggestions consultants are failing to discharge patients at the weekend “needed to be knocked off the head”. Retired geriatrician Dr Cillian Twomey said he understood the Minister for Health Dr James Reilly had indicated he would like consultants to do work on some weekends, so they could discharge patients, and it was being implied that this was soon to be brought in.
