‘Questioning health service’ is key goal — HSE

The HSE National Director for Quality and Patient Safety wants to see a health service with a “healthy questioning environment” and an end to rigid hierarchies where people cannot challenge colleagues. Dr Philip Crowley believes that having consultants or directors of nursing considered “gods” is “unsafe” and that anybody should be able to challenge any member of the medical team, within reason. “People should be able to raise questions such as ‘Are we doing the right thing here?
