Talks aimed at establishing the Dublin East Hospital Group have centred on equal access to specialty services, shared consultant appointments and NCHD rotations and training programmes, according to the HSE. In addition, the Executive said specialty clinics locally had also been discussed, as had the establishment of GP liaison meetings with local hospitals and improved clinical governance arrangements across the sites within the Group. In May last year, the Minister for Health announced a reorganisation of public hospitals into “more efficient and accountable hospital groups that will deliver improved outcomes for patients”.
