Former nursing student took proceedings against university

Ed Madden, BL, looks at a recent High Court case in which a woman who enrolled in a nursing degree course at Trinity College Dublin brought an action against the University when she was refused an opportunity to repeat her final year for a second time. In 2005, a woman enrolled in a nursing degree course at Trinity College Dublin. If successful in her studies she would obtain a B.Sc, which would entitle her to be registered as a nurse with An Bord Altranais and to practise in the nursing profession. Unfortunately, she failed her final year on two occasions…
