Diagnostic equipment hit hardest by recession

New data reveals how austerity measures during the recession in Europe could leave a lasting impact on patients, particularly in Ireland, unless investments are made in scanning equipment. The ‘Medical Imaging Equipment Age Profile and Density’ report by COCIR — Europe’s trade body for the radiological, electromedical and healthcare IT industry — has identified some alarming findings, namely that installed base density per capita is highlighting fundamental access inequalities. “We believe this is a direct consequence of the broad austerity measures European countries have been exacting on their healthcare delivery systems,” the body stated.
