Medical Council seeks changes to MPA

The Medical Practitioners Act (MPA) should be amended to allow retired doctors or those not actively practising medicine to remain on the medical register, the immediate past President of the Medical Council has suggested. Prof Kieran Murphy said it seemed “logical” that such a provision should be made for doctors wanting to remain on the Register, but who did not wish to practise.
