The post of chief executive at the soon-to-be-formed Patient Safety Agency — which will play a significant role in helping patients who have complaints — is to be advertised shortly, IMT understands. The Minister for Health has indicated that he is “deeply disturbed” that in one recent year, from €60 million paid out in medical legal claims, €20 million went to the legal profession.
