The HSE has put to tender the advanced works to facilitate the construction of the new National Forensic Mental Health Facility at Portrane in north Co Dublin, a therapeutic environment that would “promote patient rehabilitation and recovery”. The facility is meant to replace the Central Mental Hospital (CMH) in Dundrum. Works required will include the construction of a temporary construction access road, the demolition of three single-storey buildings (Reilly’s Hill, Willowbrook and old shed), a five-storey building (Nurses Home) and a two-storey building (House 100), the removal of asbestos and the re-routing of the pedestrian footpath.
