State cannot duck abortion issue forever

Following the latest ruling of the United Nations Human Rights Committee on Ireland’s abortion laws, the Government has been given a new six-month deadline in which to legislate for change, reports Lloyd Mudiwa Ireland, only one of two countries in the EU along with Poland with “extremely restrictive” abortion laws, risks worldwide ‘naming and shaming’ for failing to comply with binding international legal obligations.
