Young teen smokers may run a heightened risk of developing chronic severe period pain, suggests research published online in the journal Tobacco Control. Most women will experience dysmenorrhoea during their reproductive life, with the pain severe in up to 29 per cent. Smoking has been mooted as a potential risk factor, but the research to date has been inconclusive.
