Repurposing old ways of treating sepsis

Sepsis is a major concern worldwide in terms of morbidity, mortality and financial cost to health systems. Globally, there is an estimated 30 million cases of sepsis each year, which results in more than six mill­ion deaths. Although this number is gathered from several sources, all contend to the fact that it is likely an underestimate, because data on incidence and outcomes are often poorly captured in low- and middle-­income countries, where access to care is difficult.
