Researchers from the RCSI, together with international colleagues, have discovered a potentially new early prognostic biomarker for colon cancer. According to the study, which is published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the USA (PNAS), RCSI scientists and researchers from the University of Nice in France discovered the function of a gene called KCNQ1, which was directly related to survival in colon cancer patients.
