Irish scientist leads discovery of insights into inflammatory diseases

An international team of researchers, led by an Irish scientist, has discovered new insights into inflammatory diseases like Crohn’s disease, psoriasis and even multiple sclerosis (MS). The breakthrough was made after the group — led by Prof Paul Moynagh from Maynooth University — discovered a new protein, Pellino2, that is a key driver of inflammation. The blockade of this protein suppresses inflammation, and so may offer a new approach to treating these diseases.
