Caution urged when treating BP in older people

The benefit of aggressively lowering blood pressure in older people should be balanced against the increased risk of associated falls and blackouts, as otherwise it may harm rather than help, new research has suggested. These findings have led researchers from TCD to advise caution when treating blood pressure in some older people after results from a study contrasted with recent advice from the US to attempt to aggressively lower blood pressure in all adults to targets of 120mmHg.
