Does it pay to be a stick-in-the-mud?

Mud runs and adventure races can be a fun way to keep fit and active, but they come with a serious risk you won't find on your average jog around the park.  The HSE and HPSC have drawn attention to a series of outbreaks of infectious disease in Ireland and abroad in the wake of such races. As such, they are warning organisers and participants of the potential dangers associated with these endeavours.
