Applications for the prestigious Ethicon Foundation travel grants 2010 are now being solicited by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI).
The foundation was established by Ethicon Ltd to promote international goodwill in surgery, and to generate research and training opportunities that would not usually be available through routine overseas exchange or secondment.
The grants, which can be worth up to E1,500, are open to RCSI Fellows and Members who are either in training in Ireland or have taken up a consultant position within the past 12 months.
Previous recipients of Ethicon Foundation grants have taken up temporary positions in some of the world’s most prominent universities and teaching hospitals.
The fund exists to meet the travel costs of individuals who have shown their commitment to furthering their education, and who have demonstrated their initiative by seeking out opportunities for training that are not available in Ireland.
Successful applicants will have to provide an outline of what they hope to achieve during their proposed visit, and then report on their progress when they return to Ireland.
