Submissions sought for strategies for older people

The Department of Health is seeking submissions on the strategic direction for all future policies, programmes and services for older people in Ireland.
Launching the consultation phase of the National Positive Ageing Strategy last week (June 17), Minister for Older People Áine Brady said issues relating to older people’s participation in society and the way services are organised would be examined.

However, she emphasised that the Strategy must be developed within the constraints posed by the present fiscal situation. “It is not the intention that the Strategy will propose new service developments; rather it will set the strategic direction for future policies, programmes and services for older people,” the Minister stressed.
Submissions should be sent by post or e-mail to: National Positive Ageing Strategy, Department of Health, Hawkins House – Room 11.17, Dublin 2. Email: positiveageing@health.gov.ie.
The closing date for submissions is September 24.
