Asthma warning at Oxegen

Bookmark and Share

The Asthma Society of Ireland’s asthma nurse specialist will attend the Oxegen Music Festival from July 10 to 12, to give advice to festival goers on how to avoid asthma and allergy triggers at the festival.
The Asthma Society of Ireland is urging people with asthma who are attending Oxegen to be aware of the large number of triggers at outdoor music events that may affect their asthma and allergies.

Dr Jean Holohan, CEO, Asthma Society of Ireland said, “Oxegen has become one of the biggest and most exciting music festivals in Europe and with good planning people with asthma, hay fever or other allergies should have an enjoyable experience. I would urge people if they are concerned about their asthma control to visit their GP in advance of the event to ensure they are prepared for what should be a great weekend”
If pollen is a trigger for your asthma or allergies, festival goers are advised to check pollen counts of the region of any outdoor events they are attending and also to ask someone else to pitch their tent as pollen levels may be disturbed by this action.
As part of the campaign, Irish band The Chapters, who will be playing at the festival, have recorded a radio infomercial urging people with asthma attending Oxegen to take extra care. The infomercial will air nationally from this weekend.
