Sick-leave costs to soar

The cost of sick leave in the health service is set to soar beyond €290 million a year, following new regulations to be implemented entitling employees to carry forward annual leave accrued during paid sick leave, regardless of the duration of their absence, into new leave years over a three-year cycle.
