Pronto prints at Hawkins House

The Department of Health (DOH) has a printer for every 1.6 members of staff in Hawkins House and a photocopier for every 13 employees.
The Department currently has 309 printers — 214 inkjet printers and 95 laser printers — which are shared by approx-imately 490 whole-time equivalent employees.

Minister Mary Harney reveal-ed in the Dáil last week (April 20) that her Department possesses 578 PCs, 105 laptops and 38 photocopiers. Last year’s total spend on ‘consumables’ was €121,371.43.
In comparison, the Department of An Taoiseach, with a staff of 237, has 237 PCs, 84 laptops, 20 photocopiers and 173 printers, and used 4,570 reams of A4 paper in 2009, 97 per cent of which was recycled.
