The Minister for Health forwarded 58 per cent of parliamentary questions (PQs) directed to her Department last year to the HSE.
A total of 6,139 PQs were directed to the Department of Health in 2008. Of these, some 3,544 were referred on to the HSE for direct reply.

Responding to Labour Deputy Mary Upton, Minister Mary Harney said that 73 per cent of referred questions were responded to by the Executive last year within 15 working days, a significant improvement on the previous year’s record.
In 2007, the HSE aimed to operate within a time frame of 20 working days from the date of answer of a parliamentary question to the issuing of a final reply to a deputy. This target was reached for 65 per cent of referred questions that year.
