By Lloyd Mudiwa. The HSE yesterday (Tuesday May 29, 2012) opened the national recruitment process for the NCHD July intake round, which has a very tight application deadline.
Anticipating it will issue invitations to interview a week later, the HSE, which has not scheduled any overseas recruitment campaigns at present, said the closing date for receipt of applications is midnight on Friday (June 1).
“This recruitment event is being run to ensure that there are sufficient numbers of NCHDs to meet the needs of the services. It is vacancy driven. This means that the HSE are running this campaign to fill upcoming vacancies,” said the Executive, which is being assisted by the Public Appointments Service to fill the posts in a streamlined recruitment process.
The HSE, which indicated that not all specialties are available in every hospital group nor are all specialties available by role, said high number of live vacancies remained in Emergency Medicine and Paediatric Emergency Medicine, and General Adult Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

So, as a foreign applicant for a NCHD post in the South West, what are my chances of getting a placement to start in July if I apply in this round? Is there or is there not a need for NCHDs?
