Phil Shovlin has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer at the Children’s University Hospital Temple Street, Irish Medical Times has learned.
Ms Shovlin will replace Paul Cuniffe, who retired in June this year after 36 years’ service at the hospital and 29 years as CEO.
Shovlin previously worked as National Liver Transplant Co-ordinator. The registered general nurse and midwife was previously the CEO of St Vincent’s Private Hospital, and she has extensive experience in the health service as a corporate planner with the HSE North West.
Shovlin will commence her position at Temple Street this month, the hospital confirmed to IMT.
The hospital’s board of directors heard at a meeting on June 23, 2010 that a candidate suggested by the HSE was interviewed for the post. The closing date for applications was June 23, and preliminary interviews took place in the following two weeks.
