New facilities for children with diabetes have opened at Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin, which include the addition of a second floor to the Endocrinology Unit as well as a new Diabetes IT Management System.
According to Dr Colm Costigan, Consultant Paediatrician at Our Lady’s, the hospital treats over 1,300 children annually with diabetes and endocrine problems. “The new Diamond Diabetes Management System is a computerised system which provides a highly effective and useable electronic patient record for diabetes care management. It delivers immediacy of data, better patient interactions and real-time data that will assist in the decision making process,” he said.
