ProPublica, an independent, non-profit US news service that produces investigative journalism, has published a searchable database of doctors who have taken payments from seven drug companies in the past two years for acting as speakers at pharmaceutical events. The seven companies who have released the information include: Eli Lilly, GSK, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Merck, Johnson & Johnson, and Cephalon. However, as only these seven drug companies have publicly reported the payments they give to physicians, these doctors represent only a small fraction of the medics involved in the practice in the US.
