What do a string of pearls, a Mighty Morphin Power Ranger toy, and a windshield wiper blade all have in common? Well, they’re just a sample of the strangest things doctors in the US have pulled out of patients.

According to a blog on Sermo — the largest online physician community in the US — a response from one general surgeon was: “5 pens, 2 permanent markers, 3 straws, 2 toothbrushes, 4 Oreo cookie wrappers. All at the same time from the stomach of a patient.”

As well as a live fish, wedding rings and inflated balloons, poll results also reveal that 5 per cent said a ‘hospital administrator’s own head’!

One psychiatrist, however, said this kind of thing was not their specialty. “The only things I remove are neuroses!”
